With a name like Soldier Camp for a restaurant, you may be expecting to be served military rations for dinner! Soldier Camp Bar & Grill is, however, a rustic eatery that serves fine food. Proprietor Everold Daley is a retired US Army man and lover of good quality, fresh food. Deciding to cook food with whole natural ingredients, no MSG or other additives gave his restaurant its mission: Delicious deep flavors with healthy ingredients. Seafood is a main theme, but chicken and pork are regulars on the menu. The crayfish and the curried shrimp are favorite menu items. Being a small establishment does not hinder their ability to make great cocktails and offer a solid wine list. The atmosphere is relaxed as little white lights set the mood, bamboo benches and tables create an outdoor ambiance that is one of a kind. The military flags which adorn the space ties in the theme; it just works together to create a comfortable setting.
Soldier Camp has long been a local favorite. It is gaining recognition by foreign visitors as a dining experience not to be missed when visiting Port Antonio. Soldier Camp is open Tuesday - Saturday 3 pm - 11 pm. Reservations are not necessary, but a phone call can't hurt. Special orders can be made for Sunday and/or Monday upon request. Located on the road towards Nonsuch about 10 minutes outside of Port Antonio in a quiet area, away from the cacophony of town.
